RAND Event on Cybersecurity

May 4, 2009

As Co-Chairs of the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus, we would like to encourage you to accept the invitation you received to a RAND Corporation briefing on Cybersecurity and Human Behavior: How to Protect Yourself and Your Computer.  Recent news reports on global internet viruses and intrusions into some of our most classified national security information highlight the need for strong cybersecurity measures.  Many of these attacks are possible because individual users do not take basic steps to secure their own computers.  Being a responsible cyber citizen is important not just for your own protection, but for the security of our nation.  Please join us on Monday, May 4th, in 1539 Longworth from 2:00pm to 3:30pm for a discussion of this important issue.

Panelists will include:

  • Shari Lawrence Pfleeger (Moderator), RAND Corporation
  • Sean Smith, Dartmouth College, Institute for Information Infrastructure Protection (I3P)
  • Mary Theofanos, National Institute of Standards and Technology
  • Deanna Caputo, MITRE

To register, please contact Carmen Ferro at carmen_ferro@rand.org or 703-413-1100 ext. 5320.  For more information on the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus, please contact Davis Hake with Congressman Langevin at davis.hake@mail.house.gov or 5-2735, or Alex Manning with Congressman McCaul at alex.manning@mail.house.gov or 5-2401.
