Cyber Threats 101
We would like to bring your attention to an invitation you received from TechAmerica to attend a “Cyber 101 Briefing” February 9, at 4 p.m. in the Cannon Caucus Room. The public is becoming increasingly aware of the gaping threats facing our country’s critical infrastructure, national defense, and financial system in the digital realm. The increased access of the internet opens up vulnerabilities that allow our adversaries to potentially cause catastrophic economic and physical harm to our country. Nation states, terrorists, and other actors who seek to harm our nation also understand that the future of warfare is through cyber attack.
At the Cyber 101 briefing, industry leaders will discuss the threats facing our nation in the digital world and how the U.S. tech industry works to combat these threats. Speakers and sponsors include representatives from Google, Microsoft, AT&T, Verizon, Symantec and others.
Speakers will include:
- Dean Weber, Director and Cyber Solutions Architect at CSC
- Dean Turner, Director of the Global Intelligence Network at Symantec
- Tom Helou, President and Chief Operations Officer at Authenware
- Angela Mckay, Senior Security Strategist at Microsoft
- Marcus Sachs, Vice President for National Security Policy at Verizon
The briefing will also be followed by a reception for Members and staff with representatives from Google, the Women's High-Tech Coalition, AT&T and others at 5:30 p.m. in the Cannon Caucus Room.
